100 Mile Time Trial

Race Report

The Caesarean Cycling Club held their annual 100 mile time trial yesterday, the weather being dull and windy. Officials and competitors had to be up bright and early, in fact before dawn as the start of the event was at 6 a.m.

The course started at Rue Du Trot, St Saviour’s, then around Prince’s Tower, to Five Oaks, then onto St Martin’s via Trinity, then St John, St Mary, Croix au Lion to Vinchelez, and back over the same route to just short of Five Oaks where the feeding station was situated at the turn. This course being 25 miles had to be completed four times.

Only 3 out of 12 competitors failed to turn up. This event had an international flavour as competing were and English and French rider.

First to retire was R.Liot at 30 miles, next G.Clarke and J.Tanswell at 50 miles, then after a hard 75 miles G.Audoire.

The outstanding rider of the morning was Don Cook, who finished second to Don Ecobichon with the creditable time of 5 hrs 11 mins 53 secs. During the major event the juniors were riding a 25 mile time trial over the same course, D Lidster proving to be the fastest, followed closely by D Le Brocq with K de la Haye third, G Bisson took the first handicap with A Richardson second.
