50 Mile Time Trial

Race Report

Out of eight entries for the 50 Mile event only 5 braved the rain on Sunday morning. Non starters were J Tanswell, R Liot and W. Aubert. Times were expected to be slow owing to the poor weather conditions but Don Ecobichon proved this wrong by clocking 2 hrs 15 mins 20 secs the fastest time of the day. Four of the five riders finished. D. Cook retiring after a long and painful ride with scars as proof of the slippery roads.

Given a good morning all Sundays riders should improve on their times in the next 50 Mile Time Trial.

LADIES AND JUNIORS

The ladies and juniors also braved the weather to ride a six mile Time Trial starting from West Park proceeding to St Aubin’s and back again. The slippery roads also claimed three more victims, Miss C Liron, Miss S Harrington and A Richardson. D Lidster once again had the fastest time of the morning beating K de la Haye and D le Brocq, his closest rival. Le Marquand showed improvement by finishing fifth and taking first handicap prize. G.Cornillet a new rider took the second handicap prize.

Miss R.Grant gained first place in the ladies beating Miss S.Harrington by 1 min 46 secs, Miss C.Liron performed well in her first race.
