Members of the club and spectators witnessed the first mass start race of the 1959 session yesterday starting at Hautes Croix soon after 9.am, taking the road towards town branching left at Beach Farm, proceeding down past the States Experimental Farm, then up to Trinity Memorial, past Ebenezer Chapel and finishing at Hautee Croix. Junior riders taking part rode two laps of this three mile course starting two minutes after the seniors, the seniors riding eight laps. On the fourth lap L.Grant one of the seniors was dropped by the main bunch of riders. At about the seventh lap he was least 300 yards behind. At the finish spectators were very surprised to see that he was in the finishing bunch through his great effort and he finished in sixth place. M.Machon winner of the senior race finished one length of a bike ahead of B.Hubert who was second with Don Ecobichon in third place. First home of the juniors was D.Le Bon followed by D.Lidster. Although it remained sunny throughout the race there was a strong wind and very wet roads which made the race hard going.
