Reverse Around The Island Time Trial

On Sunday morning the weather was fine and there was little wind when 22 riders left Millbrook at minute intervals starting at 8 am. The distance of the course was approximately 30 miles There were two records broken first by Wally Rowe who improved upon his own record (1953) by nearly two minutes. Donald Ecobichon improved upon the junior record by over two and a half minutes, a record which he also held 1955. There were also many personal bests recorded. Finishing second to Rowe was Stan Perchard three minutes in arrears, Perchard was a little slower than he should have been due to a gradually softening tire during the last 5 miles. Veteran Bill Aubert finished sixth and also one handicap prize. There were three entries in the ladies event Sally Gueno winning from Colleen Dowsing by over a minute.
