Caesarean cyclist Richard Hardy-Bishop took advantage of several riders being away in France to record his first ever club victory at the weekend. In a 30 mile handicap road race at Haute Croix, he set off in the scratch group, three minutes behind the limit men. Working steadily with Don Ecobichon, he caught the long markers with two laps of the ten to go. Jumping away on the penultimate climb, only Roy Wild was able to stay in touch, but couldn't match Richards sprint at the finish. In the schoolboys event it was scratch men Paul Ecobichon and Dean Marie who worked their way through the field a number of whom had a six-minute advantage, taking the lead in the very last lap, with Paul taking the sprint at the finish.
