Races at F.B Fields

The Caesarean Cycling Club held a grass track meeting at the FB fields Thursday evening and some very good and closely contested riding was witnessed by the few keen spectators.

The first event was the 5 mile championship for the J.C.C Trophy: nine riders competed and from the start a very fast pace was set. J Tanswell Took the lead in the first lap, then W. Rowe Took over and this set the pattern throughout the event, the lead changing hands almost every lap with D.Ecobichon, D.Lidster and Rowe contesting the final lap, Ecobichon was first past the line closely followed by Lidster and Rowe.

Time 14 mins 25 secs

The second event was a junior mile with only three riders, K.de la Haye proving too good for A.Richardson and J Callec and winning in a time of 1.22.

The third event was the first heat of the quarter mile for the liberation cup, D.Ecobichon winning from D.Le Brocq in a time of 39 seconds. The second heat was won by D.Lidster from K.de la Haye in 38 seconds. The final was won by Ecobichon from Lidster with Rowe third.

The junior half mile handicap was won by J.Callec with A.Richardson second. k de la Haye, the scratch man had too much leeway to make up and was third.

Two four up pursuit races were run with D.Ecobichon catching G.Clarke and K.de la Haye, leaving D.Ecobichon and D.Le Brocq in the first event. In the second L.Lidster caught M.Drelaud and W.Rowe caught W.Rowe contesting this event.

TOO FAST FOR THEM

The last event was a mile handicap with Ecobichon and Lidster in scratch positions with Richardson the limit man. Ecobichon and Lidster went through the field and again Ecobichon’s sprint was too much for the other competitors and he remained unbeaten during the evening.
