1,000 and 4,000 Metres Time Trails

Race Report

On Sunday, July 1, the Caesarean Cycling Club held their 1,000 and 4,000 meter time trials along the 5 mile road.

As standard times were set by the Empire games selection committee, all riders had to give their upmost in these short but hard sprints.

In the 1,000 metres only D.Ecobichon could get near the set time of one minute, 15 seconds, finishing his sprint in exactly that time. All the other riders found this race harder than the previously held 1,000 metres and their times we’re much slower.

The 4,000 metres showed a marked improvement all round with a time to beat of 5 minutes, 40 seconds. Four riders clipped this time with very fast race indeed, D.Lidster being the fastest in five minutes, 25 seconds.

In the ladies event J.Laffoley put in two very fast rides to gain first place in both, and with a few more races will soon be challenging the top women riders in the club.

With times improving in leaps and bounds it was not surprising that on Wednesday, the 27th of June, another selection time was beaten, this being the 10 miles mass start time of 23 minutes, which was lowered to 22 minutes and 40 seconds by D.Ecobichon, W.Rowe, D.Le Brocq D.Lidster and K.de la Haye.
