25 Mile Time Trial

Race Report

Early morning rain and high winds no doubt affected the event, as nine members failed to start in Sundays first 25 mile time trial of the season.

The 13 who did were sent off by Mr Machon, club president, at minute intervals the course being from Red Houses down Mont Les Vaux, along the east coast to Gorey and back finishing on Route de la Haute.

One or two sections were still very wet calling for extreme caution.

Miss R Grant was the only lady rider to turn up and her time 1:23:27 certainly did not disgrace her sex.

In the junior section K de la Haye was the winner but J Callec and Alan Le Rossignol are two promising juniors who by the latter part of the season may well give de la Haye a good race.

Fastest rider of the morning was Doug Lidster with Don Ecobichon half a minute behind and Dave le Brocq a further 18 seconds behind in third place.

Riders felt the full force of the wind on the return half of the course, this at times almost bring them almost to a standstill. The course was well marshalled and members without their continued help such events would be far less safe.

The timekeeper was Mr F Machon and the recorder Mrs Machon.
