60 Mile Mass Start & 27 Mile Junior Race

Don Ecobichon Races Home

The two events organised by the Caesarean Cycling Club on Sunday were a 60 mile mass start for senior riders and a 27 mile race for the club juniors, both places being run at the same time.

Seven seniors started at 7 am on the first lap of the 13 lap race, beginning at Hougue Big, then going past Saint Saviour’s hospital, Saint Martin’s Church then back to the Hougue Big.

Having completed seven laps they were joined by the junior competitors. However by this time the field had been split into two.

The leading group consisted of D Ecobichon, C Ramsey and S Perchard who continued to increase their lead of five minutes over the bunch until Ecobichon broke away two laps before the end and went on to win by a margin of almost 3 minutes.

C Rumsey finishing just ahead of S Perchard, was an English visiting rider who is his clubs best all-rounder.
