First Event 0f the 1962 Season

Race Report

The Caesarean Cycling Club held their first event of the season on Sunday morning with a Ten Mile Time Trial starting from near St.Nicholas’s Church to the links Hotel and back. The first rider who was off sharp at 8 o’clock was L Grant who was unlucky to puncture before the turn. The final results were very much as expected with two of last years juniors who have been training very hard and now in the senior ranks chasing the leading riders to make the start of the season very interesting.

A great incentive this year for hard training is the prospect of an Empire Games selection and the riders were off to a good start. D Lidster took the first place by beating D Ecobichon by 16 seconds with D Le Brocq another 35 seconds slower, K de la Haye the first junior won from J Callec with A Richardson showing improvement on last years form in third place. The only newcomer, R Dupre rode very well in his first event and with experience and training should make a good rider.

Miss S Harrington and Miss R Grant renewed last years battle for the leading lady cyclist in the Island with Miss Harrington winning by 17 seconds.
