Velo Sport Jersey’s Dave Le Breton dominated his categories against strong competition from both Jersey and Guernsey riders on the Watersplash circuit on Sunday.
The race was one lap shorter than the seniors but no less exciting with some fast, furious and aggressive riding. With a range of abilities, the race split into smaller groups on the first climb with a leading bunch of seven riders including Guernsey’s Ann Bowdith and Jersey’s Junior Andre Tanguy of Velo Sport Jersey. This group worked well together for three laps until Le Breton put his quick pedalling and climbing skills to use and broke away, which caused the lead group to stretch out.
Peter Hubert (CCC) tried hard to stay away with Le Breton but was eventually caught by the chasing pack. Le Breton went onto win by over three minutes.
The first junior, Andre Tanguy, out-sprinted some more experienced riders to finish second showing his improving form.
The two leading ladies, Bowditch and Coombs, rode extremely well to maintain good finishing positions with the lead groups.
Velo Sport Jersey officials thanked the Honorary Police of St Ouen and St Peter, along with the event sponsors.
